Terrorists are "highly likely" to attempt an attack in Great Britain over the holiday period, and there are as many as 30 terror groups plotting attacks on British soil, UK's Home Secretary John Reid said, as quoted by

Mr. Reid said the threat of an attack in Britain remains severe, but gave no details of possible plots, adding that the government's threat status was raised to "severe," which means that "it is highly likely there will be a terrorist attempt," Mr. Reid said.
"The threat in this country is very high indeed," Home Secretary told GMTV. "We know that the number of conspiracies of a major type are in the tens - 30 or round about that."
