Fake Gucci, Louis Viutton Worth 10M Seized in Toronto

Eight people face 36 charges in counterfeit investigation.

 
An investigation into a retail outlet involved in the sale of counterfeit luxury goods, launched in May of 2007 by Toronto police and members of law firm of Kestenberg Siegal Lipkus LLP ended with arrest of eight people involved in sales of fake luxury accessories.

The investigation, named Project "Chameleon", focused on the wholesalers and importers of counterfeit luxury goods in the Toronto area.

It is alleged that the seized counterfeits consisted of footwear, purses, wallets, clothing, jewelry, sunglasses and luggage bearing the brand names of Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Coach, Fendi, Armani, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Nike, Prada, Puma, Tiffany, Victoria Beckham and Rock & Republic.

Shushan Zhang, 32, Xu Feng Chen, 33, Yun Qing Chen, 32, Siu Kop Tse, 27, Soo Hiy Lee, 50, Zhiyong Tan, 34, all of Toronto, and Xiao Yin Chen, 30, and Hua Qing Wu, 22, of Markham, were charged of theft and fraud.

It is estimated that the seized counterfeit goods were worth $10 million.
