Man Arrested over Bomb Hoax at Royal Ontario Museum

Thorarinn Ingi Jonsson, 24, arrested in fake bomb investigation at Royal Ontario Museum.

 
Toronto man was taken into custody in connection with the investigation into the fake bomb incident at the Royal Ontario Museum on Wednesday, November 28, 2007.

On Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at approximately 6 p.m., a suspicious package was discovered at the Royal Ontario Museum, 100 Queen's Park Circle. The package was constructed with material to resemble a bomb. It was removed by the bomb disposal unit and determined to be a hoax.

A video depicting an explosion taking place at the museum was posted on YouTube and sent to the media. Police would like to advise the public that the video is a hoax.

With the assistance of the public and the media, the accused, accompanied by his lawyer, turned himself in.

Thorarinn Ingi Jonsson, 24, of Toronto, was charged with Common Nuisance and Mischief Interfere with Property.
