Man Arrested in Credit Card Fraud Investigation

Officers from the Toronto Police Service Fraud Squad and the 42 Division Fraud Unit arrested a man in a credit card fraud investigation.

 
On Wednesday, October 17, 2007, officers from the Toronto Police Service Fraud Squad and the 42 Division Fraud Unit arrested a man in a credit card fraud investigation.

The man was allegedly stealing mail from apartment mail boxes across the GTA. From the personal information gained through the stolen mail, the man ordered new credit cards as well as replacement credit cards from various providers.

So far, Adekunle Omitiran, 27, of Brampton, obtained over $500,000 in cash advances and retail purchases.

A search warrant was executed at a Brampton home where a quantity of cash and $160,000 worth of property, including appliances, jewellery, electronics, shoes and clothes were seized.

of Brampton, is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, three counts of Fraud Over, 46 counts of Use Credit Card Obtained by Crime, and three counts of Possession of Proceeds of Crime.
