Nokia Crystal Prism: Fashion (Finally) Meets FunctionNokia has collaborated with graphic and fashion designer Frédérique Daubal on a special edition phone that is the pinnacle of wearable fashion technology. If you are looking for a status statement to flash at fashion week party or one of those VIP events that humble earthlings read in U.S. magazine, look no further than Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism. The laser-etched phone will send your style rating skyrocketing. And yes, it will receive calls, too. The design of the phone, as sharp and provocative as it could be, was done by man named Daubal, whose signature illustrations have caught the imagination of fashion world, leading to creations and concepts for fashion’s most respected names and retailers, including Paul Smith, Collette, Swear, Gas Tokyo and Bumble & Bumble, not limited to Hint Mag, Cream and graphiK magazine. Daubal’s graphic designs have also been an inspiration for the spellbinding, living wallpapers in the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism. In creating this intriguing design, inspiration is taken from the way in which crystals are formed in precious stones and minerals. ‘For the backplate we were catching different intensities of light and its multiple refractions,’ says Daubal. ‘Looking through a diamond gives you that experience’. The chic colour combination of rich burgundy and black convey that the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism is very much a contemporary style object. To compliment the handset, Nokia has designed a range of accessories including an earpiece, which is colour-matched with the back cover, a phone pouch and a textile print of Daubal’s elaborate illustration that can be worn creatively, In addition to the 1GB built in memory space and 2 mega pixel camera, the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism also boasts 6 band capabilities – to stay connected around the world. Frankly, and here I am speaking for the rest of stylish crowd out there - we don't need anything else. For text messages we have BlackBerries. For work, we have laptops. For music, we have upscale versions of iPods. All I want from my phone is a perfectly working messaging system, a calendar and a camera, and I know that Nokia can deliver them. If I wanted touch-screen that doesn't work and features that I won't use I would fork my hard-earned money for iPhone. Now, a bit of harsh reality: Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism is now available with a retail price of 375 EUR, exclusive of subsidies and regional taxes. Other News
