NASA's space shuttle Endeavour has successfully lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida for the 25th mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Endeavour and it's seven-astronaut crew will spend 16 days in space installing new equipment and bringing more supplies to the station.

The Endeavour crew led by NASA astronaut Dominic L. Gorie will deliver two new tools to the ISS; the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's (JAXA) new laboratory module, Kibo, and the Canadian-made robotics system, the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator, nicknamed Dextre.

The module and the robot will then be installed during the 25th trip to the ISS.

The other members of the shuttle's 25th mission to the ISS are NASA astronauts; commander Dominic L. Gorie, pilot Gregory H. Johnson and mission specialists Richard M. Linnehan, Robert L. Behnken, Garrett E. Reisman, Michael J. Foreman.

They will also be accompanied by JAXA's mission specialist Takao Doi. Once in space, Reisman, will replace the European Space Agency's (ESA) Leopold Eyharts, who will return to Earth.
