The debut of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull disappointed the movie producers, as the numbers have been made public.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull earned $25 million in the first day, which puts the movie on the fourth place of Thursday debuts, after ‘Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith,’ ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ and yet another George Lucas movie, ‘Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the clones.’

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull brings the more than 20 years old saga back to life. The film was supposed to bring about 5 million moviegoers to cinema theatres in the first day of its release and to cash in about $50 million.

However, producers hope they will be able to come close to the $150 million they thought their movie will eventually earn, even though they know this is rather unlikely.
