No End in Sight Focuses on U.S. Occupation of IraqIraq War documentary No End in Sight, a chronicle of U.S. occupation of Iraq, was awarded a special jury prize for documentaries at this year's Sundance Film Festival.Charles Ferguson had never made a film before making "No End In Sight," a chronicle of U.S. sloppy occupation of Iraq, features a mighty roster of political and military professionals who speak on camera about the mistakes made by the Bush administration, especially the mistakes made in administrating Iraq after Saddam Hussein was deposed. The director, well known in Silicon Valley for having sold the company he co-founded, Vermeer Technologies, to Microsoft in 1996 for $133 million, explained that he decided to make a documentary rather than write a book because, as he put it, "Americans don't read books. But they do go to movies." "No End in Sight" gives a history of the war, often with familiar clips of President Bush declaring the end of combat operations on the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, or Dick Cheney describing the last throes of the insurgency. "I'm not sure I agree that everybody knows the war is a disaster. I think that most Americans still don't understand how bad things are in Iraq. I also think it's important to show we got where we are in Iraq now because a few people made a series of horrific mistakes. It's important to understand those mistakes," says the director, whose debut movie was awarded a special jury prize for documentaries at this year's Sundance Film Festival Other News
