Toronto Daily News Director and Founder Vlad Goryachev says he wanted to create the all-digital newspaper because, "believe it or not, it seemed like something I wanted to read." When not tending to the intricate technological intestines of this and a bunch of other well-read digital publications, Vlad devours books on artificial intelligence and relaxes with the help of organic gardening.
Environment Editor and writer Suleil Nurijanov combines her passion for all things green with practical approach to complex inner city workings. Her expertise as a freelance writer and producer is a result of her omnipresent curiosity and hopes of contributing to the knowledge of a diversity of societies and cultures. Suleil believes in the power of open information to get together all sorts of active minds.
Our Sports Editor Zafir Rahmanov also writes occasional bits for Science/Tech section. His professional athletic background (he was a very promising gymnast until an injury cancelled his plans) leans towards gentle sports like tennis and golf, so he’s the one to blame when you read more about Maria Sharapova than Toronto Maple Leafs.
Robert Saharoff is our Science/Technology/Health overseer. His endless enthusiasm and interests in information technologies and the natural environment has her to work in some of the world’s most silicon-rich places including IBM and Sun Microsystems. Continuous learning and wandering around are one of his favourite things-to-do, and he spends his time social networking and walking his chocolate lab, Etna.
Annie Morningdale is our Entertainment Editor. She also has a master's degree in journalism with a specialization in broadcast and documentary reporting. Recently she made her biggest achievement to date, becoming Mom to her daughter Evangelina who was born in June 2008.
Fran Tobiacek is a freelance writer and producer with a dedication to maintaining healthier and more natural political and social environment. Her work has appeared in a variety of publications including Toronto Star, Privilege Magazine, and Lucky. When not working she loves to go fishing with her husband Anthony, son Charlie, and French Bulldog Kipper.

Toronto Daily News is happy to publish work produced by freelance writers, and their work is showcased in the titles daily and appreciated worldwide by our readers. Some contributors, including readers whose letters and reviews are published, don't receive a fee, but do get the opportunity to have their work published in a national newspaper.

It is very important for both parties that there is a clear understanding early on over what rights in the material are owned by which party. As is the case with other newspapers, we need to have certain rights to allow us to do things with all the material submitted by motivated individuals.

Writers must note that apart from our own right of first publication, which is exclusive, all Toronto Daily News’ other rights are non-exclusive which means that writers can also freely exploit the works themselves in other marketplaces.

Accordingly, freelance writers should be aware that the Terms set out below are the terms of business that will apply to all material you may provide to us, however supplied - commissioned, sent on spec or whatever.

There can be no variation of these Terms. The only exception to this rule would be in the event that an editor of Toronto Daily News has expressly varied the Terms by a prior agreement in writing. If any writer is not happy with the Terms then they should not offer us any material, nor accept any suggestions from us.

TERMS

1. The author retains copyright in the material.

2. For its part, Toronto Daily News has the following rights over the material:

2.1 The exclusive worldwide right to first publication.

2.2 The non-exclusive right to publish, syndicate, distribute and exploit the material in all present and future media and formats, including print, electronic, online and others.

2.3 The non-exclusive right to include the material on any website and in any database, archive or library whether on- or off-line or in any media

3. These rights may be exercised by Toronto Daily News or by others to whom we have licensed our rights.

4. All news tips, articles, opinions, and reviews must be submitted via Contact Us form unless a specific email address has been assigned for the author by the editor.

Toronto Daily News’ ability to commission material from freelance writers is dependent on us holding the necessary rights. Therefore any material a freelance writer submits to us is deemed to have been supplied in full knowledge and acceptance of these Terms.
